In this myth it talks about how Ixchel and Itzamna are married. During their marriage they had the same job which was brightening the skies. Eventually Itzamna found out that Ixchel had an affair with his brother. When he found out Ixchel fled and was found and convinced to come back to brighten the skies again. As she came back they were brightening the sky too much and the sun took out one of her eyes. This is the reason the light of the moon is softer then the light of the sun.
